Michael Holmes
After Midnight Michael Holmes graduated in 1978 with a Master’s Degree in Fine Art from Central Washington University. Michael creates his sculptures quite conducive to his primary interest in wild birds, and is located centrally along the flyway which allows him year round opportunity for field trips and study.
In his rural setting, Michael uses his design sense to create compositions which portray qualities of his subjects that overlap and intertwine human emotion and values. Peace, love, freedom and security are all issues he has visually addressed in his bronze sculpture. An ardent and eclectic music fan, he often uses visual musical representations to help convey his feelings about an issue.
Using symbolism, motion, and beauty, Mr. Holmes creates the mood of each new bronze edition. His most recent work uses a fluid design to capture a favorite sighting while visiting an outstanding outdoor recreational area. The ten and one-half foot bronze monument depicts a great blue heron rising out of a breezy marsh into flight, looking towards the “Blue Horizon”. With a careful balance between concept and composition, his sculpture speaks for itself.
